Podfic!
Hey! Remember me? Maybe not. But someone sure has...the amazing and long-suffering Issaro, aka [info]fanfic_read_by, has taken it upon herself to record in podcast form my secret Favourite Fanfic...Old Rebel Yeller. It has the boys, of course, and a possessed golden lab and involves dressing up as Civil War Reenactors. What's not to love, I say? If you have a long drive coming up or are, like me, presently walking an hour to work each way (oh, Ottawa Transit strike now in it's 44th day, how I love thee!), this could be for you. And she has a bunch of good SPN podfics squirrelled away on her site -- go explore. Here's the linky link to mine.

In other news, I'm currently beavering away on some original fic (it involves ghosts and paramedics and French-speaking fiddlers), as well as getting my ass handed to me by always-interesting work, which is why you haven't seen me around.

I am still watching the Show, of course. And that's what generally fills MY hour-long walk to work.

Kisses, Big Pink

p.s. I also feel terrible, but I may have forgotten to mention that ages ago, [info]grrli made a podcast of Red. You can find it here. Thanks to [info]parisindy for pointing that out to me!

I have to say that ORY is one of my very favorite of your fics. Buttercup's pov and Dean's uh...channeling of it, had me on the FLOOR. Sadly, it only takes me 10 minutes to get to work. But, wait...that's 20 mins a day. I can do this!!

Ghosts, paramedics and fiddlers? I love ALL of those.

It's Thursday. Make Kim share her Roadside Confessions Opera songs tonight. (oh, crap, she'll read this and punch me. *grins*)

HI!!! Miss you.

I still remember getting into stitches writing some of it. Especially Dean-as-possessed-dog. I mean, it's too straight to be crack, but it's damn close. Twenty minutes ain't bad! You can listen!

The new fic's awfully shiny and pretty so far. But that's because it's new. I'm sure I'll tire of it eventually. But I've been having fun.

I will force young Kim into Roadside opera. I can do that! if she doesn't read this, I'll tell her, so there's no avoiding it, I'm afraid.

Hey, it amazes me. Pathetic, how absent I've been. But honestly, work is so demanding at the moment, it's surprising that ANYONE sees me.

Heya, cupcake! I saw that you'd been posting and added it to the 'mental note' file, for when I Get My Life Back from Work. The fact that my family is so lovely and present, along with the shiny new fic (now at chapter 11, outlined through to the end), well, it helps compensate for the stress of work at the moment. I've had some pretty high-stress jobs, and for whatever reason, this one at the moment is just sucking me dry.

But ORY is honestly, my secret fave. *kisses*

Downloaded the podbook to my iPod yesterday! Old Rebel Yeller is my second favorite (after Red) of your fics and I was thrilled that somebody did this. Great for travelling--or just for listening while knitting or doing jigsaw puzzles online.

Hi! *waves frantically* Nice to hear from you! Wow, your life is mega-busy. Are you looking to try and get original fic published when completed? Sounds like something I'd love to read!

My life is super busy at the moment, I'm afraid. I'm longing for the days of being a little ol' consultant, when I could make my own hours. I may have to go back to it, because the pace at the moment is too damn relentless.

If I think it's good enough, I'll go agent shopping when I finish this one -- I think it's pretty sale-able. I love my characters, and I'm hoping the plot is compelling enough. Familiar to SPN readers, anyway.

*waves back*

Hi. *waves*

Old Rebel Yeller is the first story of yours I read, and it remains one of my very favorites, so yay for the podfic!

Ghosts, parametics, and French-speaking fiddlers? Hee. I'm there!

Good luck with everything. :)

For me, those three things are kinda the best bits of the new fic. I could add Acadian diaspora, alcoholism, angels, and cute boys. There's that, too. And trains. There's trains.

It's coming pretty easy at the moment, if only work would stop its relentless pace.

It's the fact that Sam knows Dean's possessed because he's liking the Eagles. Though I wrote it before he sang along to REO Speedwagon, so what the hell do I know?

Tomorrow's supposed to be a writing day. So ask me what I'm doing? Am I writing? Why no! I'm WORKING. Stupid work.

I'm just gonna pretend I didn't hear that. Though I think John (in Fire in the Hole) liked Take it Easy, but that was because he'd been glamored by a Coyote. No one in their right minds likes the Eagles. It's a sure sign of the Apocalypse.

Dude.
Life in the Fast Lane?
Peaceful, Easy Feeling?

*pokes you*

We shall have to agree to disagree, and break out the Alice Cooper albums.
*you *know* John and Dean both loved Alice. John liked 'Schools Out' and Dean liked 'Special Forces'*

I have a friend who's a musician and he played at my wedding and he played 'Desperado' and we all sang along, and then he changed all the words to chicken clucks and we clucked along. Okay, yes, we were drunk. It was a WEDDING. My wedding.

So, Desperado, I can do. But Peaceful Easy Feeling? Never!

Alice? I could do Alice. But I think John preferred Ry Cooder.

He might have *preferred*, but if Alice was on the radio, he knew the lyrics. Trussssst meeeeee.

My wedding was so boring. Nobody got drunk, or anything.

Oh hoorah!!! That is fabulous news! I already have Red \o/ downloaded (and am getting Blindspot by pdragon as well), so to have a third SPN fic to put on my ipod? It's all good. Certainly takes alot of the pain out of gym listening to awesome stories.

hi!!! I'm sure the podcast if fun, since it's such an awesome story,

how is the original fic going? I don't know if Sue could help or not but I hope so (we didn't talk about it, but she's going through tough shit right now so that's where discussions go)

I read I still watch the Snow... gah. there is less than last year but I am so sick of it still. are you buried under it in Ottawa? it's damn cold here too, vive le Carnaval! lol! (next week, I think)

I freaking SQUEEED out loud when I saw Old Rebel Yeller was being Podfic'ed.

And just now I Squeed out loud again when you mentioned that Red has been podcasted!

*runs to download*

Since you don't have any more SPN fics in the pipe, are there any plans to have more of your stories read into podfic?

I'd LOVE to have Dazzleland and New Deal to listen to.

Just finished listening to "Old Rebel Yeller" and loved it. I love how thoroughly you explore the worlds you place the boys in (I also commented after reading "Red," saying very much the same thing) and I enjoyed the outsider/somewhat insider views we get from Sam and Dean of the reenactment thing. Buttercup was both creepy and funny -- foul mouthed (minded) golden retrievers are as hilarious as pre-Bad News Bears cursing kids.

I am hoping more long podfics are in the works because I have way more time to hear fic than read it (hour long drive for me, not through city traffic but roads very very Winchestery in nature), and I basically want to consume everything you've written. I loves me that angsty/funny mix.

There's something about a cursing golden retrievers that warms the cockles of my heart, sure enough. I'm really, really grateful to the people that podficify (that is too a word) my stuff, because I know that some people, as you say, have more time to listen than to read. I cannot tell you, however, how WEIRD it is to hear someone else reading your stuff. Amazing, great, but also deeply, deeply weird.
